Among the atrocious things that this war has put before us, the energy crisis that could ensue cannot be overshadowed.
The conflict that we have under our eyes every day has brought out another problem, latent for some time and at this moment secondary to the other news that comes to us from Ukraine.
That of the energy crisis that will almost certainly arise.
But how did we get to this point?
This situation is the result of the political choices of the past, which have led Italy to be 40% dependent on Russia for the supply of gas, and more.
With the restrictions that all of Europe is putting in place against Putin, we could have great difficulty in satisfying Italy's demand for gas.
What are the solutions?
In the immediate future, it could be to reopen the coal plants in our territory, as already announced by Prime Minister Draghi, but this is a solution that is not sustainable in the long term, also given the project to close all the mines by 2025 to respect the parameters imposed by the EU on CO2 emissions.
The definitive solution could be (indeed they must be), the renewable energies on which Italy has begun to focus but with a long delay compared to other European countries.
In your opinion, what should Italy do in this situation?
